For £17.50 a month, payable monthly, quarterly or annually. For approximately 60p per day, The waiting list of children is prioritised on the basis of need and the money will be used to help buy food and clothing for the children. Of the £17.50 that is donated, £12.50 will go directly to the family and £5 will go to support the Wellingara Nursery School, helping to pay for the salaries of the teachers, for food and drinks for the children and for supplies and equipment for the school. Buy mosquito netsMalaria is the greatest threat to the lives of children in the Gambia and responsible for the deaths of 1 in 5 children. The cheapest, safest, environmentally friendliest and most effective way to protect against mosquito bites, and hence malaria is the use of mosquito bed-nets. Many households/ families cannot afford to buy mosquito bed-nets coupled with other household and family needs, so we are running a campaign to help those families that cannot afford to buy them themselves. Each mosquito net is dipped and costs £3.25 for a double net which can protect up to four children against Malaria. Thanks to the generosity of some of our sponsors the first batch of mosquito nets have now been handed out to the children with the greatest need. We are constantly running campaigns for various projects to help support the Wellingara School and local community. Many of these still require funding to help support them. The biggest of these projects is the Wellingara Health Clinic. It has been an incredibly successful project and is nearing completion, but more funds are now required to furnish the clinic and ship the equipment that has been donated over to the Gambia
